While it is not our desire to turn any child away, the calendar does fill up quickly, causing a wait time to begin the program.

Each student is paired with the same Session Leader during an entire season. This builds lasting friendships and genuine trust, encouraging the student to feel confident and secure as they work with the horse(s). Horse activities vary, and may include grooming, riding, games, etc.

All 90-minute Horse Program sessions include a 10-15 ranch-related chore, which may include filling water troughs, mucking stalls, weeding gardens, etc. Students build positive self-esteem, and Leaders empower them by teaching them how to follow instruction.

The Rancher Program is designed for students who are not interested in horses or may exhibit behaviors that make it dangerous to be around the animal(s). The program equips students to follow instructions, communicate well, and learn basic tasks they do not review in the classroom. Students participate in group activities that may include gardening, harvesting vegetables, ranch-related crafts, caring for chickens, etc.

Reining Hope offers each child the opportunity to grow in mind, body, and soul. Fitting with our belief that every child has a need, our program allows for individual care and attention. Thanks to the many donors who believe in the program, we provide ALL SESSIONS AT NO COST.

There is not one 90-minute session that looks alike, as every volunteer Session Leader weighs the situation and meets the child where he or she is at in that specific moment. Our Equine and Mentorship Programs come in all shapes and sizes. For some, it will be interacting with the animals. Horses are intuitive to our human needs, and it's a proven discovery that horses respond differently when they know we have a need of any kind. For others, it will be participating in ranch-related crafts and projects. All activities at the ranch are designed to build hope, provide healing, and to show acceptance.
