Reining Hope provides a safe place for teens to complete school-required volunteer hours, an opportunity for adults looking to help others, and a retreat for retirees to fill their time with meaningful acts of kindness. We continually see volunteers gain happiness and fulfillment while serving on the ranch.
The Sessions Team is comprised of men, women, and youth (age 14+) who have a heart for helping young people and their families during our weekly sessions in the spring, summer, and fall.
- Session Leaders – work one-on-one with child and horse (weekly commitment)
- Session Assistants – assist Session Leader when needed (monthly commitment)
- Family Outreach – welcome and encourage family members (monthly commitment)
Equine Care Team (ECT):
The ECT is a group of volunteers who commit to helping at the ranch one day a week. Children under the age of 14 are required to be accompanied by an adult. The ECT is responsible for general care of the horses, including grooming and bathing, mucking stalls, and cleaning and filling water troughs. For the more experienced ECT members, tasks include riding, training, and exercising the horses. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together!
The Reining Hope property is in the process of being established. It started as a heavily wooded piece of land, and it was cleared and mulched in summer of 2017. The projects on the ranch are endless, and we appreciate any help you can provide. Carpenters and handi-workers are greatly appreciated!!
- Grounds Crew – mowing, weed eating, mucking stalls, etc. (weekly commitment, please)
- Maintenance Crew – fixing, repairing, painting, etc. (once a month commitment, please)
- Projects – specific tasks that require a team
- Land Clearing Crew – cutting down trees, clearing brush, etc.
Reining Hope hosts several activities and events throughout the year. Volunteers are needed for tasks such as set-up and tear-down, preparing and serving meals, prepping crafts and activities, and assisting with specific roles at the event.
“I volunteer at the ranch because everyone has become family. The reward I receive in serving here is far greater than I could have imagined.”
“I’ve had a really bad month, but today’s sessions was wonderful, so I feel optimistic. Plus I always feel happy during a RH session.”
“I feel that God placed Reining Hope in my life at the perfect time, and Reining Hope will always have a special place in my heart.
– Session Leader
